I might have paid more attention and sucked less at math if I’d learned some of the more practical applications. Teach those first, then bring in the imaginary numbers.
Sometimes, people can be so amazing and so inherently good that it leaves me breathless.
Monday in the parking lot of a shop I frequent, I was accosted by a grifter. I was sitting in my car with the window down, and suddenly there was a head and upper body right in my face. I was trapped, and short of starting up the car and driving off with a body hanging out of it, I didn’t know what exactly to do. I reached for my phone and out of the corner of my eye saw two of the guys from the shop charging across the lot toward my car yelling. Mr. Freaky ran off and I jumped out of the car and stood talking to my two heroes. One ran back into the store to call the local police and the other while keeping an eye out, was trying to flag down the complex security guard.
In minutes I was surrounded by the two guys from the shop, security and three local cops, one of whom was a Canine officer named Amoré. The local police responded full out, and in force, hunted this guy down and picked him up. Seems he had a long history of menacing, assaulting and robbing women in the area, especially right there at the complex. I was ALMOST once again a statistic, but this time my two Knights in shining armor came to my aid and marshaled a task force in minutes. These police officers were respectful, polite, professional and very good at what they did. They protected and served, helped me calm down, and let me feel safe.
It was a terrifying experience turned amazing. I am so thankful that the two guys from the store acted so quickly.
